Abstract

Iosif Nusimovich Brodskiĭ, a member of the philosophy department faculty of the University of Saint-Petersburg, one of the founders of the contemporary Saint-Petersburgian logic school, died in 1994. His greatest influence as a pedagogue was through such courses as "Mathematical Logic", "Philosophical Problems of Logic", and "Introduction to the Theory of Algorithms". His textbook Elementary Introduction to Symbolic Logic went through two editions.
