For $p$-solvable groups, a strong form of Alperin's weight conjecture has been proved by T. Okuyama (unpublished). L. Barker has refined this theorem by taking Green correspondence into account. We prove here a relative version of Barker's theorem.

Let $G$ be a group acting continuously on a space $X$ and let $X/G$ be its orbit space. Determining the topological or cohomological type of the orbit space $X/G$ is a classical problem in the theory of transformation groups. In this paper, we consider this problem for cohomology lens spaces. Let $X$ be a finitistic space having the mod 2 cohomology algebra of the lens space $L_p^{2m-1}$ $(q_1,\dots,q_m)$. Then we classify completely the possible mod 2 cohomology algebra of orbit spaces of arbitrary free involutions on $X$. We also give examples of spaces realizing the possible cohomology algebras. In the end, we give an application of our results to non-existence of $\mathbb{Z}_2$-equivariant maps $\mathbb{S}^n \to X$.

Two partial differential equations are studied from the view-point of critical exponents. They are equations for a scalar unknown of one spatial variable, and produce self-similar solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations. Global existence and blow-up are examined for them, and the critical exponent separating them is determined.

We give criteria for the boundedness of positive Toeplitz operators on weighted Bergman spaces of a minimal bounded homogeneous domain in terms of the Berezin symbol or the averaging function of the symbol. Moreover, we estimate the essential norm of positive Toeplitz operators assuming that they are bounded. As an application of these estimates, we also give necessary and sufficient conditions for the positive Toeplitz operators to be compact.

Quandles can be regarded as generalizations of symmetric spaces. Among symmetric spaces, two-point homogeneous Riemannian manifolds would be the most fundamental ones. In this paper, we define two-point homogeneous quandles analogously, and classify those with prime cardinality.

In this paper we calculate the Lagrangian Floer homology $HF(L_0, L_1 : {\mathbb Z}_2)$ of a pair of real forms $(L_0,L_1)$ in a monotone Hermitian symmetric space $M$ of compact type in the case where $L_0$ is not necessarily congruent to $L_1$. In particular, we have a generalization of the Arnold-Givental inequality in the case where $M$ is irreducible. As its application, we prove that the totally geodesic Lagrangian sphere in the complex hyperquadric is globally volume minimizing under Hamiltonian deformations.

We give a recipe to compute the geometric intersection number of an integral lamination with a particular type of integral lamination on an $n$-times punctured disk. This provides a way to find the geometric intersection number of two arbitrary integral laminations when combined with an algorithm of Dynnikov and Wiest.

We study the fixed point subalgebra of a certain class of lattice vertex operator algebras by an automorphism of order 3, which is a lift of a fixed-point-free isometry of the underlying lattice. We classify the irreducible modules for the subalgebra. Moreover, the rationality and the $C_2$-cofiniteness of the subalgebra are established. Our result contains the case of the vertex operator algebra associated with the Leech lattice.

Hilbert schemes of suitable smooth, projective manifolds of low degree which are 3-fold scrolls over the Hirzebruch surface $\mathbb{F}_1$ are studied. An irreducible component of the Hilbert scheme parametrizing such varieties is shown to be generically smooth of the expected dimension and the general point of such a component is described.

We are concerned with rigorously defined, by time slicing approximation method, Feynman path integral $\int_{\Omega_{x,y}} F(\gamma) e^{i\nu S(\gamma)} {\cal D}(\gamma)$ of a functional $F(\gamma)$, cf. [13]. Here $\Omega_{x,y}$ is the set of paths $\gamma(t)$ in R$^d$ starting from a point $y \in$ R$^d$ at time $0$ and arriving at $x\in$ R$^d$ at time $T$, $S(\gamma)$ is the action of $\gamma$ and $\nu=2\pi h^{-1}$, with Planck's constant $h$. Assuming that $p(\gamma)$ is a vector field on the path space with suitable property, we prove the following integration by parts formula for Feynman path integrals:

Here $DF(\gamma)[p(\gamma)]$ and $DS(\gamma)[p(\gamma)]$ are differentials of $F(\gamma)$ and $S(\gamma)$ evaluated in the direction of $p(\gamma)$, respectively, and ${\rm Div}\, p(\gamma)$ is divergence of vector field $p(\gamma)$. This formula is an analogy to Elworthy's integration by parts formula for Wiener integrals, cf. [1]. As an application, we prove a semiclassical asymptotic formula of the Feynman path integrals which gives us a sharp information in the case $F(\gamma^*)=0$. Here $\gamma^*$ is the stationary point of the phase $S(\gamma)$.

Let $(X/Z,B)$ be a lc pair with $K_X+B$ pseudo-effective$/Z$ and $Z$ affine. We show that $(X/Z,B)$ has a good log minimal model if and only if its log canonical algebra and modules are finitely generated.

Let $D^{\infty}(M,N)$ be the group of $C^{\infty}$-diffeomorphisms of a compact manifold $M$ preserving a submanifold $N$. We give a condition for $D^{\infty}(M,N)$ to be uniformly perfect.

We prove the rationality of the descendent partition function for stable pairs on nonsingular toric 3-folds. The method uses a geometric reduction of the 2- and 3-leg descendent vertices to the 1-leg case. As a consequence, we prove the rationality of the relative stable pairs partition functions for all log Calabi-Yau geometries of the form $(X,K3)$ where $X$ is a nonsingular toric 3-fold.
