We obtain characterizations of positive Borel measures μ on Bⁿ so that some weighted holomorphic Besov spaces B ${}_{s}^{p}$ (ω, Bⁿ) are embedded in L^p(dμ).

A simplicial complex Δ is called flag if all minimal nonfaces of Δ have at most two elements. The following are proved: First, if Δ is a flag simplicial pseudomanifold of dimension d−1, then the graph of Δ (i) is (2d−2)-vertex-connected and (ii) has a subgraph which is a subdivision of the graph of the d-dimensional cross-polytope. Second, the h-vector of a flag simplicial homology sphere Δ of dimension d−1 is minimized when Δ is the boundary complex of the d-dimensional cross-polytope.

It is shown that for any t, 0< t<∞, there is a Jordan arc Γ with endpoints 0 and 1 such that $\Gamma\setminus\{1\}\subseteq\mathbb{D}:=\{z:|z|<1\}$ and with the property that the analytic polynomials are dense in the Bergman space $\mathbb{A}^{t}(\mathbb{D}\setminus\Gamma)$ . It is also shown that one can go further in the Hardy space setting and find such a Γ that is in fact the graph of a continuous real-valued function on [0,1], where the polynomials are dense in $H^{t}(\mathbb{D}\setminus\Gamma)$ ; improving upon a result in an earlier paper.

In this paper, we consider the continuity property of pseudo-differential operators with symbols whose Fourier transforms have compact support. As applications, we obtain the L^p-boundedness for symbols in Besov spaces and in modulation spaces.

General upper tail estimates are given for counting edges in a random induced subhypergraph of a fixed hypergraph ℋ, with an easy proof by estimating the moments. As an application we consider the numbers of arithmetic progressions and Schur triples in random subsets of integers. In the second part of the paper we return to the subgraph counts in random graphs and provide upper tail estimates in the rooted case.

In a uniform random recursive k-directed acyclic graph, there is a root, 0, and each node in turn, from 1 to n, chooses k uniform random parents from among the nodes of smaller index. If S_n is the shortest path distance from node n to the root, then we determine the constant σ such that S_n/log n→σ in probability as n→∞. We also show that max _1≤i≤nS_i/log n→σ in probability.

We consider the Cauchy problem for a second order weakly hyperbolic equation, with coefficients depending only on the time variable. We prove that if the coefficients of the equation belong to the Gevrey class $\gamma^{s_{0}}$ and the Cauchy data belong to $\gamma^{s_{1}}$, then the Cauchy problem has a solution in $\gamma^{s_{0}}([0,T^{*}];\gamma^{s_{1}}(\mathbb{R}))$ for some T^*>0, provided 1≤s₁≤2−1/s₀. If the equation is strictly hyperbolic, we may replace the previous condition by 1≤s₁≤s₀.

Let Z(t) be the classical Hardy function in the theory of Riemann’s zeta-function. An asymptotic formula with an error term O(T^1/6log T) is given for the integral of Z(t) over the interval [0, T], with special attention paid to the critical cases when the fractional part of $\sqrt{T/2\pi }$ is close to $\frac{1}{4}$ or $\frac{3}{4}$.

We study the asymptotic equidistribution of points with discrete energy close to Robin’s constant of a compact set in the plane. Our main tools are the energy estimates from potential theory. We also consider the quantitative aspects of this equidistribution. Applications include estimates of growth for the Fekete and Leja polynomials associated with large classes of compact sets, convergence rates of the discrete energy approximations to Robin’s constant, and problems on the means of zeros of polynomials with integer coefficients.

We prove that every homomorphism $\mathcal{O}^{E}_{\zeta}\rightarrow\mathcal{O}^{F}_{\zeta}$, with E and F Banach spaces and ζ∈ℂ^m, is induced by a $\mathop{\mathrm{Hom}}(E,F)$-valued holomorphic germ, provided that 1≤m<∞. A similar structure theorem is obtained for the homomorphisms of type $\mathcal{O}^{E}_{\zeta}\rightarrow\mathcal{S}_{\zeta}$, where $\mathcal{S}_{\zeta}$ is a stalk of a coherent sheaf of positive depth. We later extend these results to sheaf homomorphisms, obtaining a condition on coherent sheaves which guarantees the sheaf to be equipped with a unique analytic structure in the sense of Lempert–Patyi.
