Abstract

We show that, to some extent, the behavior of an entire function of several complex variables is reflected by its behavior on algebraic subvarieties.

Acknowledgments

This study was inspired by a question posed by Heisuke Hironaka, when the second author spoke in the Séminaire François Norguet in Paris [4]. The results of the present paper were announced by the second author at the conference: Michigan Computational Algebraic Geometry, 2012, held at Oakland University. The authors, during the time of the conference, learned that the idea of tracing functions along subvarieties has also arisen in the numerical solution of systems of polynomials [9].
