Abstract

By representing a set of $N$ data points as a vector $\mathbf{x}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$, we show that certain data analysis concepts, in particular regression and quantile regression, can be interpreted as vectors that minimize the distance to the vector $\mathbf{x}$, with respect to an appropriate metric or quasimetric.
