Improvement of the overall efficiency of energy infrastructure is one of the main anticipated benefits of the deployment of smart grid technology. Advancement in energy storage technology and two-way communication in the electric network are indispensable components to achieve such a vision, while efficient pricing schemes and appropriate storage management are also essential. In this paper, we propose a universal pricing scheme which permits one to indirectly control the energy storage devices in the grid to achieve a more desirable aggregate demand profile that meets a particular target of the grid operator such as energy generation cost minimization and carbon emission reduction. Such a pricing scheme can potentially be applied to control the behavior of energy storage devices installed for integration of intermittent renewable energy sources that have permission to grid connection and will have broader applications as an increasing number of novel and low-cost energy storage technologies emerge.

Assuming that the initial value $v_0(x)$ belongs to the space $H^1(R)$, we prove the existence of global weak solutions for a weakly dissipative hyperelastic rod wave equation in the space $C([0,\mathrm{\infty })\times R)\bigcap \mathrm{‍}{L}^{\mathrm{\infty }}([0,\mathrm{\infty });H^1(R))$. The limit of the viscous approximation for the equation is used to establish the existence.

We study some nonlinear gossip algorithms for wireless sensor networks. Firstly, two types of nonlinear single gossip algorithms are proposed. By using Lyapunov theory, Lagrange mean value theorem, and stochastic Lasalle’s invariance principle, we prove that the nonlinear single gossip algorithms can converge to the average of initial states with probability one. Secondly, two types of nonlinear multigossip algorithms are also presented and the convergence is proved by the same methods. Finally, computer simulation is also given to show the validity of the theoretical results.

Considering the influence caused by joint angle, nonlinear damping, and nonlinear rigidity, the nonlinear torsional vibration dynamical modeling of the multi-DOF rolling mill’s main drive system is established. To analyze the coupled equations by analytic method, the equations are decoupled by transforming them into principal coordinates. The amplitude-frequency characteristic equations are obtained by multiscale method. Furthermore, numerical example based on the 1780 rolling mill’s main drive system of some Steel Co. is given to illustrate the effects of the resonance on the response of the system. The relationship between amplitude and frequency varies according to the parameters changes of nonlinear stiffness, nonlinear friction damping, torque disturbance, and joint angle. During the rolling process, the limited joint angles range is obtained and the variation rules of the joint angle caused by the nonlinear damping, nonlinear stiffness, and the disturbance torque are gained. The results present that the rolling mill can work more stably with the joint angle at a range from 2° to 8° by controlling the value of parameters. The research results provide a theoretical basis and reference for analyzing torsional vibration of rolling mill’s transmission system caused by joint angle.

This paper proposes a reduced-order model for the large scale circuits representing the multiconductor systems. It is based on the block Arnoldi algorithm for calculating congruence transformation matrix. By setting up the state equations in frequency domain for the multiconductor systems, the transfer functions are calculated and so the frequency response curves are obtained. A comparison is made between those curves obtained from the circuits with and without reduced-order treatment and a better agreement appears between them. By using inverse Laplace transform, the lightning transient responses in the multiconductor systems are given in time-domain. A better agreement is shown between calculated and experimental results, which confirm the validity of the proposed model.
