Abstract
It is shown that in simple statistical designs in which a covariance adjustment is made for concomitant variation, an unbiased between-treatment mean square can be produced by weighted randomization, i.e., by selecting an arrangement at random from a set of arrangements, giving different arrangements in the set unequal chances of selection.
