Excursions away from the Lipschitz minorant of a Lévy process

Abstract

The α-Lipschitz minorant of a function $\mathit{f}:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}$ is the greatest α-Lipschitz function $\mathit{m}:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}$ such that $\mathit{m}\le \mathit{f}$. The α-Lipschitz minorant of the sample paths of a Lévy process X was introduced and studied by Abramson and Evans. Denoting the minorant by M, an object of interest is the contact set $\mathcal{Z}:=\{\mathit{t}\in \mathbb{R}:{\mathit{M}}_{\mathit{t}}={\mathit{X}}_{\mathit{t}}\wedge {\mathit{X}}_{\mathit{t}-}\}$ that was shown to be both stationary and regenerative. We continue this study by providing a description of the excursions of the Lévy process away from its contact set similar to the one presented in Itô excursion theory, and we focus in particular on the excursion straddling zero. We also give an explicit path decomposition of the other “generic” excursions in the case of Brownian motion with drift β with $|\mathit{\beta }|<\mathit{\alpha }$. Finally, we investigate the progressive enlargement of the Brownian filtration by the random time that is the first point of the contact set after zero.

Le minorant α-Lipschitzien d’une fonction $\mathit{f}:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}$ est la plus grande fonction α-Lipschitzienne $\mathit{m}:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}$ telle que $\mathit{m}\le \mathit{f}$. Le minorant α-Lipschitizien des trajectoires d’un process de Lévy X a été introduit et étudié par Abramson et Evans. Noté par M ce minorant, un objet d’intérêt est l’ensemble de contact $\mathcal{Z}:=\{\mathit{t}\in \mathbb{R}:{\mathit{M}}_{\mathit{t}}={\mathit{X}}_{\mathit{t}}\wedge {\mathit{X}}_{\mathit{t}-}\}$ qui est à la fois stationnaire et régénératif. On continue dans ce papier cette étude en fournissant une description des excursions du processus de Lévy loin de son ensemble de contact, similaire à celle dans la théorie d’excursions d’Itô. En particulier, on se concentre sur l’excursion enjambant zéro. Notre analyse amène aussi une décomposition explicite des trajectoires des autres excursions « génériques » dans le cas du mouvement Brownien de drift β avec $|\mathit{\beta }|<\mathit{\alpha }$. Finalement, on étudie l’élargissement progressif de la filtration brownienne par le temps aléatoire qui est le plus premier instant de l’ensemble de contact après zéro.
