We describe the development of a 2-point block backward difference method (2PBBD) for solving system of nonstiff higher-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) directly. The method computes the approximate solutions at two points simultaneously within an equidistant block. The integration coefficients that are used in the method are obtained only once at the start of the integration. Numerical results are presented to compare the performances of the method developed with 1-point backward difference method (1PBD) and 2-point block divided difference method (2PBDD). The result indicated that, for finer step sizes, this method performs better than the other two methods, that is, 1PBD and 2PBDD.

An effcient method is presented to calculate the ground range of a ballistic missile trajectory on a nonrotating Earth. The spherical Earth model does not provide good approximation of distance between two locations on the surface of Earth. We used oblate spheroid Earth model because it provides better approximations. The effective ground range of a ballistic missile is an arc-length of a planner elliptic (or circle) curve which passes through the launch and target points on the surface of Earth model. A general formulation is presented to calculate the arc-length of an elliptic (or circle) curve which is the intersection of oblate Earth model and a plane. Explicit formulas are developed to calculate the coordinates of center of the ellipse as well as major and minor axes which are necessary ingredients for the calculation of effective ground range.

Based upon the fast computation of the coefficients of the interpolation polynomials at Chebyshev-type points by FFT, together with the efficient evaluation of the modified moments by forward recursions or by Oliver’s algorithms, this paper presents fast and stable interpolating integration algorithms, by using the coefficients and modified moments, for Clenshaw-Curtis, Fejér’s first- and second-type rules for Jacobi weights or Jacobi weights multiplied by a logarithmic function. Numerical examples illustrate the stability, efficiency, and accuracy of these quadratures.

Generating functions play an important role in the investigation of various useful properties of the sequences which they generate. In this paper, we aim to establish certain generating functions for the incomplete hypergeometric functions introduced by Srivastava et al. (2012). All the derived results in this paper are general and can yield a number of (known and new) results in the theory of generating functions.

This paper presents a new application of the homotopy analysis method (HAM) for solving evolution equations described in terms of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs). The new approach, termed bivariate spectral homotopy analysis method (BISHAM), is based on the use of bivariate Lagrange interpolation in the so-called rule of solution expression of the HAM algorithm. The applicability of the new approach has been demonstrated by application on several examples of nonlinear evolution PDEs, namely, Fisher’s, Burgers-Fisher’s, Burger-Huxley’s, and Fitzhugh-Nagumo’s equations. Comparison with known exact results from literature has been used to confirm accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method.

We presented the Nagumo equation using the concept of fractional calculus. With the help of two analytical techniques including the homotopy decomposition method (HDM) and the new development of variational iteration method (NDVIM), we derived an approximate solution. Both methods use a basic idea of integral transform and are very simple to be used.

In this work we compute the determinant and inverse matrices for a certain symmetric matrix of Rayleigh sums. As a special case we also obtain the determinants and inverses for the matrices of the Bernoulli numbers and related numbers.

The aim of this paper is to study the solvability for a coupled system of fractional integrodifferential equations with multipoint fractional boundary value problems on the half-line. An example is given to demonstrate the validity of our assumptions.

We propose a new numerical meshfree scheme to solve time-dependent problems with variable coefficient governed by telegraph and wave equations which are more suitable than ordinary diffusion equations in modelling reaction diffusion for such branches of sciences. Finite difference method is adopted to deal with time variable and its derivative, and radial basis functions method is developed for spatial discretization. The results of numerical experiments are presented and are compared with analytical solutions to confirm the accuracy of our scheme.

This paper deals with a nonlinear boundary value problem for bihypermonogenic functions in Clifford analysis. The integrals of quasi-Cauchy’s type and Plemelj formula for bihypermonogenic functions are firstly reviewed briefly. The nonlinear Riemmann boundary value problem for bihypermonogenic functions is discussed and the existence of solutions is obtained, which also indicates that the linear boundary value problem has a unique solution.

We consider all of the transmission eigenvalues for one-dimensional media. We give some conditions under which complex eigenvalues exist. In the case when the index of refraction is constant, it is shown that all the transmission eigenvalues are real if and only if the index of refraction is an odd number or reciprocal of an odd number.

We aim at establishing a new bilateral type generating function associated with the I-function and a Mellin-Barnes type of contour integral. The results derived here are of general character and can yield a number of (known and new) results in the theory of generating functions.

Our concern in this paper is to use the homotopy decomposition method to solve the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation (HJB). The approach is obviously extremely well organized and is an influential procedure in obtaining the solutions of the equations. We portrayed particular compensations that this technique has over the prevailing approaches. We presented that the complexity of the homotopy decomposition method is of order $O(n)$. Furthermore, three explanatory examples established good outcomes and comparisons with exact solution.

Let $M$ be a ${\mathcal{C}}^{\mathrm{\infty }}$ compact $CR$ manifold of $CR$-codimension $\mathcal{l}\ge 1$ and $CR$-dimension $n-\mathcal{l}$ in a complex manifold $X$ of complex dimension $n\ge 3$. In this paper, assuming that $M$ satisfies condition $Y(s)$ for some $s$ with $1\le s\le n-\mathcal{l}-1$, we prove an $L^2$-existence theorem and global regularity for the solutions of the tangential Cauchy-Riemann equation for $(0,s)$-forms on $M$.

The modified generalized Laguerre-Gauss collocation (MGLC) method is applied to obtain an approximate solution of fractional neutral functional-differential equations with proportional delays on the half-line. The proposed technique is based on modified generalized Laguerre polynomials and Gauss quadrature integration of such polynomials. The main advantage of the present method is to reduce the solution of fractional neutral functional-differential equations into a system of algebraic equations. Reasonable numerical results are achieved by choosing few modified generalized Laguerre-Gauss collocation points. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy, efficiency, and versatility of the proposed method on the half-line.
