Abstract

With the exception of papers by G. W. Snedecor, G. M. Cox, and H. F. Smith ([8], [9], [10]), there seems to be little about proportional frequencies in the literature. In this paper we consider two-way crossed classifications and two-way nested classifications. The expected values of the sums of squares are obtained in a form which is applicable to a variety of components of variance models. The tests of several hypotheses are considered.
