Abstract
Given integers , , and , we construct a manifold containing a –component link so that there is a bridge surface for of genus that intersects in points and has distance at least . More generally, given two possibly disconnected surfaces and , each with some even number (possibly zero) of marked points, and integers , , and , we construct a compact, orientable manifold with boundary such that contains a –component tangle with a bridge surface of genus that separates into and , and intersects and exactly in their marked points, and has distance at least .
