Discussion of the papers by Bovas Abraham and Nicholas Fisher

Abstract

I agree with the author (Abraham) of the first paper that Statistics has roles to play in Business and Industry at all the three levels described by him. The two questions that we as statisticians must answer are: (i) what are the appropriate statistical concepts and tools that are relevant at these three levels? and (ii) what is the best way of transferring these concepts and tools from the statistics community to the business and industry community? We shall briefly consider both questions for each of the three levels.
