Online Usage Statistics for Institutional Subscribers

Project Euclid provides institutional subscribers with usage statistics that conform to COUNTER 2 specifications for the Euclid Prime collection as well as other titles hosted on the Project Euclid platform. (Additional notes on our COUNTER 2 implementation are below.)

To view usage statistics for titles hosted on the Project Euclid platform, please follow the steps below.

  1. Create a Euclid Profile (see Create a Euclid Profile)
We suggest creating a nonpersonal UserID, so that it can be passed to a colleague in the future.

  2. Contact Project Euclid
The profile administrator should complete the Request Usage Statistics form.

  3. View Statistics
The profile administrator will receive email confirmation that usage statistics have been activated. At that point, to view institutional usage statistics:
    1. Visit projecteuclid.org and log in (upper right-hand corner) using the UserID and password selected.
    2. Once logged in, click on "My profile" (upper right-hand corner).
    3. Click the Subscriber Stats link (right-hand navigation bar), which will provide access to downloadable data files.

Project Euclid Usage Statistics

In providing usage statistics, we have followed the specifications of the COUNTER Code of Practice, Release 2 (April 2005). COUNTER is an organization of producers and purchasers of electronic content who seek consistent methods of measuring online use. The code specifies common practices in the recording and exchange of online usage data.

Project Euclid provides two COUNTER usage reports: Journal Report 1 (download counts) and Database Report 3 (session and search counts). Since "turnaways" are not applicable to Euclid, we do not provide Journal Report 2 or Database Report 2. For Euclid Prime there is a single Journal Report 1, which includes title-by-title figures. Separate Journal Reports are compiled on request for titles not in Euclid Prime.

Reports are provided as downloadable files in CSV format (comma-delimited text files). These can be easily imported into spreadsheet software, such as Excel.
