What is Project Euclid?

Project Euclid is a not-for-profit online publishing service that provides access to journals, monographs, and conference proceedings in the fields of theoretical mathematics and statistics. Its mission is to advance scholarly communication in these fields and it is designed to address the unique needs of low-cost independent and society journals. Through a collaborative partnership arrangement, these publishers are able to join forces and participate in an online presence, without sacrificing their intellectual or economic independence or commitment to low subscription prices. Supported by a combination of subscriber and publisher fees, Euclid is able to make 70% of its content available without any access restrictions. The end result is a vibrant online information community.

What are Project Euclid's electronic access and distribution models?

Institutions may purchase content hosted on Project Euclid in several ways. Individual may purchase access to individual titles.

Prime: Euclid Prime is a collection of high-impact, peer-reviewed journals in theoretical and applied mathematics and statistics hosted by Project Euclid.

Select: Euclid Select offers individual journals on a title by title basis. This subscription option is being phased out. (There is a 10% discount on Select titles to libraries that also subscribe to the Prime collection.)

Direct: Euclid Direct titles are hosted on Project Euclid but their electronic subscriptions are managed by their individual publishers under various terms. For access terms and conditions, please contact the publisher directly. See the list of Euclid journals and their publisher.

Open Access: Many journal titles hosted by Project Euclid are available to any Project Euclid user with no access restrictions.

Can I order all content hosted on Project Euclid with a single subscription?

Does Project Euclid provide usage statistics to institutional subscribers?

Does a subscription to titles hosted on Project Euclid require a signed site license agreement?

Project Euclid supports four different access and distribution models for full-text electronic content from our partner publishers. Subscription and access terms for electronic publications available on Project Euclid are based on the access and distribution model. Not all collections or titles require a site license. As a librarian, how can I access and manage my institution's account?

To gain access to your library's Project Euclid account, please

  1. Visit http://projecteuclid.org/LibrarianLogin.
  2. Enter your institution's Euclid ID.
  3. Enter your institution's password.
  4. Click "Log In," which will log you into your Project Euclid account.

As an individual subscriber or member, how can I access articles?

To gain access to your subscription through Project Euclid, please

  1. Log in
    • Visit projecteuclid.org and log in (upper right-hand corner) using the UserID and password selected.
    • If you do not have a UserID and are unable to login, create a Euclid Profile (see Create a Euclid Profile)
  2. Once logged in, click on "My profile" (upper right-hand corner).
  3. Register Journal Subscriptions
    1. In the "Personal Subscription Information" section of the form, select the title of the journal that you are registering from the pull-down menu.
    2. Enter the subscriber code provided by the journal publisher in the 'Subscriber code' field.
    3. For every journal subscription you are registering, repeat steps a. and b. in a new box. (If you run out of boxes, submit the form and then click the "update profile" menu at the top of the screen.)
    4. Submit the form by clicking the "Create Profile" button.

You should now have access to the full-text of the journals registered. On future visits, you will need to log in to Project Euclid with your Euclid UserID and password to access your subscriptions.

Which is the best browser for viewing Project Euclid content?

Project Euclid has been tested with Internet Explorer 5.XX (and higher) and Netscape 4.XX (and higher). Please let us know if you are having difficulty viewing this site.

More recent releases of Internet Explorer and Netscape have more complete Unicode character support for accented characters and mathematical symbols. Older versions of Netscape will display a question mark (?) when it encounters a character it cannot render. These should display properly in more recent versions of these web browsers.
